POLLARDING

Action to cut the summit (the head of the tree). Pollarding is done only if it is necessary in cases such as : broken branches, hail and rottenness in canker form.

Pollarding when it is not necessary has for effect to induce rottenness of the tree on a long term base. The tree will compensate its foliage loss while doing gourmands (vertical leaf sprouts 50% larger than its original size).

At the base of every gourmands internal rottenness will be detected and it will then be irreversible.
